Heat & Frost Insulators & Asbestos Workers

Today, energy conservation efforts within the construction industry aim at increasing operational efficiency and reducing fuel costs.  These efforts have led to the insulation of furnaces, boilers, hot and cold piping, air ducts, and other equipment in virtually every commercial and industrial building.  

Insulation is an outstanding tool for reducing energy costs for governments and businesses alike.  Trained insulation mechanics are needed to install the insulation and weatherproofing using a variety of insulation materials.  

Insulators must be mechanically inclined and enjoy working with mathematical formulas that are needed to fabricate the insulation for the job.  Working with both your hands and mind, indoor and outdoors, in all temperatures and weather conditions, will prove to be a challenge in today's construction industry.

You must:

Be at least 18 years of age
Possess a high school diploma or GED

How do I prepare for the trade?

The following will be helpful to have completed courses in or possess the following skills:

Math courses
Industrial Arts
Mechanical drafting
Blueprint reading

What are the program specifics?

Length of program is 4 years
144 hours of classroom training per year, and on-the-job training
Starting pay is 50% of journeyman wage (pay increases yearly with advancement)
