Sheet Metal Workers

 

A sheet metal worker fabricates and/or installs a variety of sheet metal products ranging from heating and ventilating ductwork, architectural products on the exterior and interior of buildings, machinery, guards, enclosures, and stainless steel kitchen equipment.

The highly skilled sheet metal worker is required to read and interpret blueprints, perform layouts using mathematics and geometry, form and assemble sheet metal products using a variety of seams, including welding, riveting and soldering.  The sheet metal worker learns to use a wide variety of raw materials to complete the job.

 

You must:

Be at least 18 years of age

Possess a High School Diploma or GED Certificate

How do I prepare for the trade?

The following will be helpful to have completed courses in or possess the following skills:

Good work ethics

Mechanical drawing and blueprint reading

Mathematics - including geometry, algebra and basic trigonometry

Welding

Problem solving skills

 

What are the program specifics?

Length of the program is 5 years

A minimum of 144 hours of related classroom instruction per year

Starting pay is currently 45% of journeyman's rate plus fringe benefits

Apply the last Thursday of every month - 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m.
